he lonely, the abandoned, the
orphaned, neglected, unaccompanied,
young or handicapped child can do
little in and of him/herself. Adult
supervision, care, schooling and nurturing are
essential otherwise the vulnerable and
marginalized child becomes another statistic
for death, disability or delinquency.
Then there are the women, the
female teenagers, the mothers with
their children who stand unaided. When ependence leads to violation of
their basic needs by the very ones she has entrusted herself and her
family. Sadly this group is also prone to gender based violence and
maternal health related problems further reducing the productive
mother and her children to poverty and thus ill health is exacerbated.
